Description
A bronze spearhead with long blade and broad midrib with incised decoration to each side,
rectangular-section bent tang, reinforced shaft with ribbed horizontal bands interspersed with bands of geometric motifs.
from the middle of the second millennium BC, Urkish become a great city in the kingdom of the Mitanni and was peopled by Hurrians, who had begun to move into the northeast region of present day Syria by the end of the third millennium BC.
The spear head would have been attached by its tang to the shaft of a spear.
The Hurrians were distinguished for their skill in working copper and are also credited with the introduction of the battle chariot, from which such spears could be hurled as projectiles.
