HELLENISTIC CORE-FORMED OPAQUE BLACK GLASS AMPHORISKOS

Eastern Mediterranean, 2nd-1st Century B.C.
core-formed, standing on a green-colored knop-foot, decorated with opaque red, white and yellow-colored trailing combed into a feather pattern with horizontal lines above and below, twin Green-colored glass handles attached to the shoulder and neck.
This is a spectacular example of the amphoriskos form, a rendition in glass of the classical two-handled amphora. The vessel has an elongated ovoid body, a tall tubular neck and splayed rim, and two trailed handles. cylindrical neck with out-splayed rim.
Some hairline cracks but otherwise intact, with the original high gloss fire polish exceptionally well preserved.
