Description

Islamic Coin Umayyad Æ bronze fals, minted in Akka (Acre), is a remarkable piece of early Islamic coinage dating back to the 8th century.

  • Obverse Inscription:
    • The central inscription reads “لا اله الا الله وحده” (There is no god but Allah alone) within three concentric circles.
  • Reverse Inscription:
    • “محمد رسول الله” (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)
    • “بسم الله ضرب هذا الفلس بعكا” (In the name of God, this fals was struck in Akka).

Album notes two subtypes of this issue, those with broad irregular flans, such as this coin, and those with small round flans. The former he dates to the 80s, noting that they are all very rare RR
