Description

Ancient Islamic Square Mold-Blown Glass Bottle with Zoomorphic Relief
Islamic Period, ca. 8th–10th century CE

6.7Cm

A small mold-blown glass vessel of square, compact form, featuring a wide flaring rim and thickened neck. The body is decorated in relief with a stylized animal, possibly a horse or similar quadruped, rendered in a simplified and slightly abstract manner.

The surface shows natural heavy Patina.

The piece likely belongs to a tradition of mold-made glass from the Eastern Mediterranean, where animal motifs were occasionally used as decorative elements.

Probably intended for holding small quantities of liquids such as perfumes.
