Phoenician Bronze Figural Fitting
Levant, Iron Age, circa 9th–7th century BC
A cast bronze appliqué or fitting depicting a seated or squatting male deity or cult figure, wearing a distinctive tall conical headdress. The arms are positioned along the sides of the body, while two large circular perforations served to secure the object to another surface, probably a piece of wooden furniture or ceremonial equipment.
The stylized figure and prominent headdress reflect the religious iconography of the ancient Levant, where conical crowns were particularly associated with divine or cult figures. Comparable figural fittings and furniture ornaments are known from Phoenician and Syro-Levantine contexts
