(The basic glass used locally in ancient times was greenish or bluish in hue, owing to the presence of metal oxides in the raw material, additional ornamentation in strong shades, such as blue, turquoise, and green, was particularly popular among the glass artisans of the late Roman-Early Byzantine period, who used colorful glass trails both for decoration and for the handles and bases, creating a striking color contrast)
