Roman Marble Head of Eros (Cupid)
Roman Imperial Period, 1st–2nd Century AD
A Roman marble head depicting a youthful Eros (Cupid), characterized by a rounded face, full cheeks, softly modelled features, and thick curling hair. The head was originally carved in high relief, forming part of a larger decorative or possibly funerary composition.
Strongly influenced by the Hellenistic Greek tradition, the sculpture is most consistent with Roman Imperial work of the 1st–2nd century AD.
